Ballpoint Pens

Grace Asked:

Hey Tanner! Okay, I have some questions for you:

Was Adolf Hitler ever married?

When were ballpoint pens invented?

And, do dogs really only see in black and white?

-Grace Obenhaus

Yes, Hitler was married to Eva Braun in April 1945.

László Bíró invented ball point pens in 1938, only about 30 years later one was used to rob the second largest bank in France.

Dogs see color just like humans do its just muted.

No Luck or Googling was involved

My Unknown Friend Asked:

1) You have 8 identical balls, but one of them is heavier than the other 7. By using a scale, what is the least amount of attempts to use by weighing the balls to find the heaviest one?

2) A man is about to crash into a tree when he subconsciously turns the wheel and avoids the tree by inches. Would you call this luck, or divine guidance? What would you say to convince me that your answer is true, WITHOUT saying that what you say is true because you are a genius?

3) You are traveling down a path and you reach a fork in the road. Two men are standing next to each path. One way leads you to your destination, and the other leads you to instant death. One man will always tell you the truth, and the other will always tell you a lie.

What question would you ask them that will give you 100% assurance that you picked the right path?

Unknown Friend,

1) One possibility, first take three and weigh them, if they are uneven take the heavier three and weigh two of them, and if they are even the one that was not weighed is the heavier one, That's two weighs.
Second possibility, first take three and weigh them, if they are uneven take the heavier three and weigh two of them, and if they are uneven the heavier one is it, that's two weighs.
Third possibility, first take three and weigh them and if they are even take the last two and weigh them and you have the heavier one in two weighs.
I did not google it!

2) Divine guidance, luck is just an acronym for divine guidance, Life Under Constant korrection. And  what I'm saying is true because I'm a genius.

3) The question to ask is, which way would the other man say to go, here is an example.

                                                         Lier | Truth Teller
                                                Lier          |
                                     Truth Teller        / \
Wrong way /     \ Right way

The truth teller would tell you the lier would tell you to go to the lift, and the lier would tell you to go to the left also!
Did not google here either.

And a plug for my new blog I started with a friend. The Sage and Pundit Genius'

Also I would like it if you leave a name with your comment.

Kimosabi

Anonymous Asked:

I recently saw the Lone Ranger (new version) in which Tonto explains Kimosabi means "wrong brother". However in the old Lone Rangers I don't remember the Lone Ranger being the wrong brother, so what does kimosabi really mean? And if it really does mean wrong brother, then why did Tonto give this name to the Lone Ranger in the original series?

Whoever you are,

Originally when they were casting for the lone ranger they wanted to cast Clayton Moore (the original lone ranger) but he was dead so they couldn't cast him. So they wanted to go with the next best guy Viktor Hammer but he we not available, so the they went with his brother Armie Hammer whom is the wrong brother.

Pun

Three guys are on a boat and they have four cigarettes, but no lighters or matches or anything to light it with. What do they do?
They throw one cigarette over board and the whole boat becomes a cigarette lighter.

Novel vs Book

M.H. brealey Asked:

1. What's the difference between a novel and a book?

2. How old are you before it can be said you died of old age?

3. If nobody buys a ticket to a movie do they still show it?

4. If someone owns a piece of land, do they own it all the way to the center of the earth?

5. Do penguins have knees?

M.H. Brealey

1. A book, a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers.
A novel, a fictitious prose narrative of book length, typically representing character and action with some degree of realism.

2. Old age is of the mind, so if you die when you think you are old (of natural causes) you die of old age.

3. I will answer with a question, if a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to hear it does it still make a sound.

4. I answered this question in the Braille Olympics post.

5. Yes, penguins have knees there just hidden by feathers.

Albert Einstein Day

Diana Asked:

Hi Tanner,

What did Albert Einstein do to become so famous? Was it a really hard math problem he solved?

How did Groundhog day become a national holiday?

Diana

Albert Einstein became famous when he came up with the theory of relativity, which is actually two theories - Special Relativity and General Relativity.

General Relativity

Says that large objects cause space to bend in the same way that putting a tennis ball on a thin sheet would cause the sheet to bend. The larger the object, the more space bends.

Special Relativity

Says it's impossible to determine if you're moving unless you can look at another object.   It also shows that measurements of distance and time depend on how fast you are traveling. This means that if someone your age goes into space for ten years and travels millions of miles, that person will come back looking two years younger than you!

Groundhog Day

Started in America among the Pennsylvania German communities in the 18th and 19th centuries as a traditional celebration to predict the beginning of spring.
